The Model 52 is a GM contamination monitor that detects alpha, beta, and gamma radiation. This portable unit assembles or disassembles in 5 minutes and is powered by battery or AC. The unit is easily transported with its wheeled hard carrying case. Personnel stand in the portal for at least 6 seconds to be scanned. The monitor will detect beta/gamma radiation from a 1 uCi Cs-137 source in the center line of the portal. The detector configuration consists of (4) 168 cubic inch plastic scintillators which allows a total detection area of 672 cubic inches. This covers four quadrants of the body. An infrared sensor senses portal occupancy. Alarm system detector arrays and a summing circuit total the activity from all the detectors. The monitor will alarm when the set point is reached. Portal is 76.5” H x 32” W. This lightweight monitor weighs 65 lb. The Model 52-1 Portal Monitor is more sensitive and faster than the Model 52 and has a larger portal. The 70 lb Portal Monitor is 81"H x 24” W. Model 52-1-1 is the same as the 52-1 and has a 32” wide portal. |
